Can you really change your body in just six weeks?

It’s a question I get asked quite often, and the answer is absolutely yes. But what you achieve in those six weeks depends on where you’re starting, what your goals are and, perhaps most importantly, how much you’re prepared to put into it.

I’ve been a personal trainer for many years, and I’ve seen some incredible transformations. But I’ve also seen people become stronger, fitter, healthier and more confident without the number on the scales changing dramatically.Because transformation isn’t always just about losing weight. Sometimes it’s about discovering what your body is actually capable of.

Why I Created My 6-Week Kick Starter Programme

There’s a reason I call it a Kick Starter.

It’s designed to get you moving, establish a routine and introduce you to a way of training that you can realistically maintain.
For six weeks, you’ll train with me three times a week. That’s 18 sessions of progressive training, designed around your individual fitness level, abilities and goals.

And here’s the important bit.

You don’t need to be fit to start. That’s rather the point!

Whether you’ve never set foot in a gym, haven’t exercised for years or already train but need some structure and direction, the programme starts wherever you are.

You’re not expected to arrive fit. You’re coming to me to get fitter.

How Do We Measure Your Progress?

I don’t believe in simply telling someone they’re getting fitter. I want them to see it for themselves.
That’s why we start with a fitness assessment.

Before we begin, I take your starting measurements and health statistics, including body composition, blood pressure and resting heart rate.

We also complete a series of fitness tests.

Some exercises are measured by how many repetitions you can complete in one minute. Others involve holding a position for as long as you can.

These give us a starting point for your muscular endurance, strength and cardiovascular fitness.

Then, at the end of the six weeks, we repeat the tests.

And this is one of my favourite parts because people are often genuinely surprised by just how much they’ve improved.

An exercise they struggled with in week one suddenly feels manageable. They can complete more repetitions, hold positions for longer and recover more quickly.

It’s one thing to feel fitter. It’s another to have the evidence right in front of you.

Can You Lose a Stone in Six Weeks?

Yes, it’s possible.

A commonly recommended rate of weight loss is around 1–2 lb per week, meaning that losing approximately 6–12 lb over six weeks can be a realistic target for many people.

Some people, particularly those starting at a higher body weight, may lose more.

I’ve had clients lose considerably more.

One of my clients lost an incredible 21 lb in her first six weeks.

But what makes her story particularly special is that she didn’t stop there. She continued training with me and eventually lost a total of six stone.

Her transformation story is featured on my website.

And that’s exactly what I love about the Kick Starter programme. Those first six weeks can be the beginning of something much bigger.

Of course, not everybody will lose that amount of weight, and I would never promise that they will.

Your starting weight, body composition, nutrition, health and consistency all influence your results.

But if weight loss is your goal, I’ll give you the nutritional guidance and tools to help you work towards it.

The training is important, but what you do outside our sessions matters too.

You can’t exercise your way around consistently eating more calories than your body needs.

Believe me, if you could, my job would be considerably easier!

Will I Build Muscle in Six Weeks?

Yes, you can begin building muscle in six weeks, particularly if you’re new to resistance training.

You can also make noticeable improvements in strength and muscular endurance.

But here’s something worth understanding. You don’t need to build enormous amounts of muscle to start feeling different.

As your muscles become stronger and you develop better control over your movements, everyday activities can begin to feel easier.

You may notice that your body feels firmer, your posture improves and exercises that initially seemed impossible become achievable.

Visible changes in body shape can take longer, and everyone progresses at a different rate.

But six weeks is absolutely enough time to start making meaningful progress.

Do I Need to Be Fit Before Starting?

Absolutely not.

I sometimes think people imagine they need to get themselves fit before approaching a personal trainer.

Which is a bit like deciding you need to get your hair looking fabulous before visiting the hairdresser.

Getting you fitter is my job.

Every exercise can be adjusted to your ability.

If you can’t perform a particular movement, we’ll find a variation that works for you.

If you’re already reasonably fit, I’ll challenge you appropriately.

The programme is progressive, which means your training develops as your fitness improves. You’re never competing with anybody else. You’re working towards becoming a stronger, fitter version of yourself.

Will I Be Doing the Same Exercises Every Session?

No, and there’s a good reason for that.

I want you to learn how to exercise, not simply memorise one workout.

Over the six weeks, you’ll experience a variety of exercises and training methods designed to develop your strength, cardiovascular fitness, balance and muscular endurance.

We’ll revisit certain movements because repetition and progression are important, but your sessions won’t be identical week after week.

By the end of the programme, you’ll have learnt exercises you can use independently.Whether that’s in a gym, at home or whilst travelling, you’ll have a much better understanding of what to do and why you’re doing it.And that knowledge is something you take away with you.

What If I Haven’t Exercised for Years?

Then we’ll start gently and build from there.

One of the biggest mistakes people make when returning to exercise is trying to do too much too quickly.

You don’t need to leave every session completely exhausted to make progress.

The aim is to challenge your body appropriately, allow it to recover and gradually increase what you’re capable of doing.

Consistency will always be more valuable than pushing yourself so hard in the first week that you can barely move for the next three days!

Do I Have to Follow a Strict Diet?

No crash diets. No starving yourself. And certainly no surviving on lettuce leaves.
But if your goal is weight loss, nutrition is going to play an important part.

I’ll provide guidance on calorie intake, nutrition and tracking your food.

And I encourage people to track honestly. Not because I want anybody obsessing over every mouthful, but because understanding what you’re eating can be incredibly revealing.

It’s surprising how quickly those little extras add up.

You might be training brilliantly three times a week, but if you’re consistently eating more calories than your body needs, weight loss is going to be difficult. The aim is to develop an understanding of nutrition that you can continue using long after the six weeks have finished.

What Happens After the Six Weeks?

That depends entirely on you.

Some people continue training with me because they’ve enjoyed the structure, motivation and accountability.

Others feel confident enough to take what they’ve learnt and continue exercising independently.

And some simply discover that exercise is something they actually enjoy.Which, believe me, isn’t always how people feel when they first walk through the door!

The most important thing is that you finish with more knowledge, greater confidence and a routine you can build upon.

So, Can You Really Transform Your Body in Six Weeks?

Yes. But I think the biggest transformation is often the one people weren’t expecting.

You might lose weight. You might notice your clothes fitting differently. You’ll hopefully feel stronger, fitter and more energetic.
But you may also discover that you’re capable of far more than you thought.
And perhaps most importantly, you’ll have spent six weeks showing yourself that you can commit to something.

Eighteen training sessions. Six weeks of learning. Six weeks of making yourself a priority.

And potentially the beginning of a completely different relationship with exercise.

I’ve seen what people can achieve when they commit to the process.

My client who lost 21 lb in six weeks didn’t stop at six weeks. She went on to lose six stone. But every transformation starts somewhere.

You don’t have to be fit to start. You just have to start.
